Sheridan Blaha Named GNAC Rookie of Week Again

WINTHROP, Mass. – Freshman Sheridan Blaha (Waltham, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Field Hockey Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season, as the league's weekly awards were announced Monday afternoon.

Blaha had two goals for four points in a 2-0 week, including the game-winner in a 1-0 win over Rivier. On Thursday night, she scored the game-winning goal with 8:17 remaining in the fourth period as Regis earned an important 1-0 victory over the Raiders. It was her 14th goal of the season, breaking the Pride single-season goals record.

Saturday, she scored 26 seconds into the second period on her only shot of the match to help the Pride defeat Albertus Magnus, 4-0. She is now second in the GNAC with 15 goals and tied for second in the league with 31 points, also a Regis single-season record. Blaha has scored a goal in four straight matches.

Besides her standing in the league, Blaha is also 24th in Division III in goals per game (0.94) and 47th in the country in points per game (1.94). The freshman has been a key member of this year's squad as the Pride have already doubled their win total from the previous season.

Regis (6-10, 3-4 GNAC) closes the regular season at Johnson & Wales (6-11, 4-3 GNAC) Wednesday, Oct. 30, beginning at 5 p.m. The Pride need to win in order to remain in contention for a spot in the upcoming GNAC Tournament.
