Annie Villare Named Head Coach of Regis Field Hockey

WESTON, Mass. – Pam Roecker, Dean of Athletics at Regis College, is proud to announce the hiring of Annie Villare as head coach of the Pride field hockey program.

Villare most recently served as an assistant coach at Division II Southern New Hampshire University in the Northeast-10 Conference, where she was involved in all aspects of the program, especially establishing herself as an outstanding recruiter. In addition, Villare is currently coaching for the Seacoast United field hockey club program out of Hampton, N.H.

Collegiately, Villare is a former Division I player and team captain for the highly competitive UMass Lowell program under veteran head coach Shannon Hlebichuk, where Villare was named to the America East All-Championship team in 2016. She was also a two-time UMass Lowell Dean's List and America East Academic Honor Roll member.

“Annie led her teammates by tremendous example both on and off the field,” said Hlebichuk. “I have been in coaching 17 years and Annie is without question one of the most motivated and loyal student-athletes I have had the opportunity to coach. She will inspire her players with her commitment to their personal, academic, and athletic development, and she will bring great energy to the entire Regis community."

“I am truly honored to take the lead of the Regis Pride field hockey program. Regis has shown great strides in the last few years as a community, and I am excited to add to their success as a field hockey program. I am looking forward to working with a group of young women who are determined to learn in the classroom as well as on the field,” said Villare.

“We truly believe we have one of the rising stars in field hockey based on the experience, commitment, passion, and knowledge base Annie is bringing to our program at such a young age,” Roecker added. “She is going to be an inspiring role model, and I know our student-athletes are going to benefit from playing for her.”

The Pride open preseason Monday, Aug. 20, in preparation for their first contest Friday, Aug. 31, at Western Connecticut State. The home opener for the field hockey team is Thursday, Sept. 6, against Becker starting at 7 p.m. at Regis Stadium.
