WESTON, Mass. - Senior Julie Saltamartini (East Hampstead, N.H.) recorded a hat trick on Saturday morning as the Regis (Mass.) field hockey team suffered a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Simmons College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at Regis Stadium.

With the loss, the Pride falls to 2-4 and 0-3 in GNAC play. The Sharks run their winning streak to five games, moving to 6-2 overall and staying perfect at 3-0 in the conference.

Saltamartini wasted little time getting her name on the score sheet on the day, tallying her first goal of the contest at the 5:50 mark. The senior walked in from the top of the circle and fired a low shot past the Pride's Maresa Malcolm (Barrington, N.J.) and into the bottom left corner of the net.

The score remained 1-0 for the majority of the first half, until with just over three and a half minutes remaining in the period. Senior Sammy Rondeau (Franklin, Mass.) found the back of the net from the top of the circle for her team-leading eighth goal of the season to put the Sharks ahead by a pair going into the break.

Nearly 11 minutes into the second half, Saltamartini would add her second and third goals of the afternoon just under four minutes apart to put the game all but out of reach. Junior Meghan Fontaine (Westminster, Mass.) would add one more for the Sharks with inside three minutes to go off a penalty corner to round out the 5-0 win.

Freshman goalkeeper Lucy McNamara earned the shutout win for Simmons, making two saving in the victory. Malcolm was charged with the loss despite making eight saves.

Next up for the Pride, they'll take on Becker College on the road on Tuesday night for a rematch of last season's New England Collegiate Conference semifinal, a thrilling 2-1 overtime win for the Pride on their road to an NECC title. Simmons will look to run its winning streak to six also on Tuesday night, when they travel to Smith College.
