Malcolm Named NECC Goalkeeper of the Year, Two Others First Team All-NECC

WESTON, Mass. - Regis (Mass.) field hockey goalkeeper Maresa Malcolm (Barrington, N.J.) has been named the Goalkeeper of the Year by the New England Collegiate Conference. The honor earned the junior on the First Team All-Conference, where she is joined by midfielder Aineen Callahan (Diamond Point, N.Y.) and defender Jenna Casello (Westborough, Mass.).

Malcolm received the honor after posting an impressive .886 save percentage and allowing merely 0.52 goals per game in NECC play. Malcolm and the Pride allowed just five goals in ten NECC games, which boosted Casello's All-Conference resume. The defender also tallied two goals on the season to go along with five assists.

Callahan was the team's leading scorer on the season with 13 goals (seven in conference play), setting a new Regis single season record.

Senior Carla Brito also received honors for the conference, as she was named to the All-Sportsmanship team. Brito started all 19 games for the Pride, scoring two goals and an assist. She served as the team's hero in Saturday's NECC Championship game, as she netted the late game-winning goal with just over a minute to play to lift the Pride to its third title.
