Field Hockey Blanks Daniel Webster, Moves To Top of NECC Table

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis (Mass.) field hockey team continued its winning ways, handing Daniel Webster a 10-0 loss Friday at Regis Stadium and grabbing the top spot in the New England Collegiate Conference standings.

The Pride played in front of Daniel Webster's goal for the majority of the game. Regis got on the board early when Jenna Casello (Westborough, Mass.), after repeated shots on goal from the Pride, finished her chance past Eagle goalie Ashlyn Farwell (Pelham, N.H.) less than five minutes into the game.

Farwell had a busy day in net for Daniel Webster, making 28 saves on 49 Regis shots.

Casello assisted on a pair of goals later in the half, both to Emily McDonald (Plymouth, Mass.) and 41 seconds apart to put the Pride up 6-0 by halftime. Yvonne Abate (Easton, Mass.) put Regis ahead 7-0 at the start of the second half with her first goal of the season and the Pride cruised to the win.

Nine Regis players scored led by McDonald who finished with a team-high two goals for the Pride who improve to 9-6 and 7-1 in the NECC, one-half game above Elms who plays at Wheelock on Saturday. Daniel Webster falls to 0-11 and 0-6 in league play.

Regis will have the weekend off and return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 25 for Senior Day vs. Wheelock. The Eagles play this Tuesday as well, hosting Bay Path at 4:00 p.m.
