Field Hockey Shuts Out Daniel Webster, Stays Perfect in NECC

NASHUA, N.H. - The Regis (Mass.) field hockey team extended their winning streak to four on Wednesday afternoon, as it defeated the Eagles of Daniel Webster College by a final score of 2-0.

With the win, the Pride moves above .500 for the first time in the 2016 season at 5-4 (3-0 NECC), while Daniel Webster continues to seek its first win at 0-7 (0-2 NECC).

The Pride netted the game's lone tallies just over three minutes apart midway through the first half. Senior midfielder Jenna Casello (Westborough, Mass.) opened the scoring for the Pride at the 15:33 mark when she netted her first goal of the season. Junior Hailee Forrest (Amherst, N.H.) was credited with an assist on the goal, her first point of the season.

At the 18:52 mark, midfielder Aineen Callahan (Diamond Point, N.Y.) continued her red-hot sophomore season, burying her team-leading ninth goal of the season. Senior co-captain Kelsey Morton (South Portland, Maine) picked up her third point of the season when she was credited with the assist.

The Pride outshot the Eagles 31-3 on the afternoon, but Daniel Webster goalkeeper Ashlyn Farwell (Pelham, N.H.) made 22 saves to keep her team in the game right until the final horn. Regis goalkeeper Maresa Malcolm (Barrington, N.J.) earned her second shutout of the season, making one save.

Next up for the Pride, they will travel to Wheelock College on Saturday afternoon for a conference matchup with the Wildcats at 3:00 p.m. The Eagles return to action the same day, on the road against Bay Path at 11:00 a.m.
