LYONS SHUTOUT PRIDE 4-0

NORTON, Mass. – The Regis College field hockey team was defeated by Wheaton College 4-0 on Saturday afternoon on Nordin Field. With the loss, the Pride drop to 1-1 on the young season and with the victory, the Lyons remain undefeated at 2-0.

Senior Kelsey Harris (Spencer, Mass.) tallied two goals during the game including her first goal nine minutes into the contest on a ball that was just out of the reach of Pride goalie Raegan Heck (Phillipston, Mass.). Her second goal came in the second half during the 51st minute.

Ellen Gulezian (Merrimac, Mass.) added the second goal of the game during the 19th minute when Amelia Gage (Lebanon, N.H.) slotted the ball to Gulezian who then ripped a shot into the open goal. Gage then added a goal in the second half as she cleaned up a loose ball that was blocked Raegan Heck's glove.

Regis was outshot 28-1 during the contest with Laurie DeMars (Maynard, Mass.) recording the only shot for the Pride.

Raegan Heck took the loss and made 13 saves during the contest. Riley Thompson (Fairfield, Conn.) played one half in goal for Wheaton earning her second win of the season and making a save. Emily Curran (Cohasset, Mass.) also received time in the cage as she played the entire second half.

The Crimson and Gold return to the field next Saturday, September 12th for their first home conference matchup of the season versus Bay Path at 1:30 p.m.
