PRIDE SHUTOUT BY FALCONS, 5-0

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Regis College Field Hockey team traveled to Fitchburg State University and fell to the host Falcons 5-0 during a non-conference matchup on Wednesday evening. The Pride fall to 3-13, 2-2 NECC with the loss and the Falcons advance to 7-10, 2-8 LEC with the out of conference victory.

Goalies Raegan Heck (Phillipston, Mass.) and freshman Maresa Malcolm (Barrington, N.J.) split halves in goal during the contest. Heck stopped six shots during the first half and Malcolm, in relief of Heck made four saves. Both goalies combined to stop 10 shots on the night.

Senior defender Yasmine Akib (Everett, Mass.) had the best opportunity to score for Regis during the 62nd minute of play. Akib rifled a shot towards the cage but it was denied by Falcon's senior goaltender Lucy Holewa (Londonderry, N.H.)

Fitchburg State scored two goals during the first half both were scored by sophomore forward Julia Pecoraro (Yarmouth, Mass.). Kaitlyn Silva (W. Townsend, Mass.), Casey Noonan (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and Julia Gimenez (Framingham, Mass.) all added to the Falcons advantage during the second half of play with goals of their own.

Regis will be back in action on tomorrow, Thursday, October 30th for their final regular season contest against Daniel Webster College at 7:00 p.m. in Weston, Mass. The Pride will honor five seniors before the game for their contributions to the College community and the Athletics program.
