REGIS DOWNED BY CONFERENCE FOE ELMS, 3-0

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Elms College Field Hockey team delivered a 3-0 victory on Senior Day, defeating visiting Regis College in a New England Collegiate Conference contest at Leary Field Saturday afternoon.

The Blazers struck early in the opening half as Elms fired a barrage of shots at Regis junior goalkeeper Raegan Heck (Phillipston, Mass.), and after a strike from Morgan was knocked down, Narey jolted to the loose ball and tucked a shot past Heck to give the Blazers a 1-0 advantage with 30:59 remaining in the first half.

Narey came through for the Blazers in the 25th minute as she dribbled along the goal line to the left side of the goal, and angled a shot to the inside post, pushing the Elms lead to 2-0. The Blazers maintained their two-goal cushion the remainder of the half.

The Blazers put the game away in the final minutes as Martin netted her first goal of the season off a pass from Morgan, securing the 3-0 victory for Elms.

Elms topped the Pride in the shot column by three-fold, 21-7, during the contest. Blazers junior goalie Samantha Alvino recorded her second shutout of the season with three saves, while Heck stopped a game-high six shots for Regis.

Prior to the game, the Blazers honored their 11 departing seniors: Elizabeth Patient (Leicester, Mass.), Jackie Soderquist (Enfield, Conn.), Emma Morgan (South Kingstown, R.I.), Tatiana Frizzell (Brattleboro, Vt.), Kelly Martin (Enfield, Conn.), Meghan Goodrow (Sunderland, Mass.), Ashley Reid (Enfield, Conn.), Allie LaMonica (Salem, Mass.), Kayla Narey (South Hadley, Mass.), Imogen Leonard (Sharon, Mass.), and Hannah O'Brien (Granby, Conn.).
