RAMS BEST PRIDE, 3-1

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – The Regis College field hockey team was defeated by non-conference opponent Framingham State University this afternoon at Maple Street Field by a score of 3-1. With the loss, the Pride move to 1-1 on the young campaign while the Rams earned their first win of the season and move to 1-0.

Framingham State took the lead in the first half with a pair of goals. Senior Emma Littlefield (Rockport, Mass.) stuck first when she converted off a feed from classmate Hannah Wilkins (Merrimac, Mass.) in front of the net. Wilkins had a hand in the Rams second goal as well when she sent a cross to junior Cady Kelly (Canton, Mass.) in the circle and put the ball in the back of the net with under 19 minutes remaining in the half giving the Rams a 2-0 lead.

The Pride cut the Rams lead in half with 7:59 showing on the clock. Junior Laurie DeMars (Maynard, Mass.) sent a long pass across the circle to freshman Hailee Forest (Amherst, N.H.). Forest scored her second goal of the season as she snapped a shot off, that landed in the back of the cage, which pulled the Pride within one.

The Rams tacked on an insurance goal with just over a minute remaining in the game. Kelly found the back of the net for the second time in the contest off a feed from freshman Amie Souza (Taunton, Mass.)

Junior Rosemary Talbot (Whitinsville, Mass.) picked up the victory and moved to 1-0 on the year making five saves in net. Junior Raegan Heck (Phillipston, Mass.) fell to 1-1 on the season and made nine stops for the Pride.

Regis is back in action on Friday September 5, 2014 for the squad's home opener when they host non-conference foe Wheaton College at Regis Stadium at 4:00 p.m.
