EARLY GOALS LIFT PRIDE TO FIRST WIN OF YEAR

HENNIKER, N.H.— Regis College would net two early goals and tack on an additional score in the second half lifting the Pride past the New England College Pilgrims, 3-1, Saturday afternoon.

The Pride are now 1-0 on the season, while the Pilgrims drop to 0-2 overall.

Regis would strike just 11:39 into the opening half as Sam Anderson (Sandwich, Mass.) would gain possession of a loose ball in the circle and fire a shot past the Pilgrim goalie and through several defenders scoring her first goal of the season.

The Pride would make it 2-0 just over five minutes later as Laurie DeMars (Maynard, Mass.) would bat in a pass lifted by Jenna Casello (Westborough, Mass.). Regis would continue to control much of the offense in the opening half as they outshot NEC 14-2 and held the 8-2 advantage in penalty corners.

Regis would go up 3-0 five minutes into the second period as Hailee Forest (Amherst, N.H.) would record her first collegiate goal putting in a pass from senior captain Sashae Walls (Everett, Mass.).

NEC would get on the board at the 47 minute mark as senior Patricia Wright (Essex, Mass.) would take a nice feed from Carissa O'Brien (Johnstown, N.H.) and beat several Regis defenders netting the Pilgrims' first score of the season.

Neither team would muster a goal in the final 23 minutes of play as the Pride would hold on for the 3-1 victory.

Picking up the win in net for Regis was Raegan Heck (Phillipston, Mass.) who finished with four saves. NEC's Michaela Clark (Dorchester, Mass.) made 18 saves in net for the Pilgrims.

Regis will hit the field again on Wednesday, September 3 when they travel to take on Framingham State University at 4:00 p.m.
