PRIDE ATHLETES PARTICIPATE IN BREAST CANCER WALK

BOSTON, Mass. - On October 14, the Regis College field hockey and softball teams participated in the annual "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" walk of Boston. This year's event, which happened to be the 20th Anniversary, raised over 1.8 million dollars to assist the American Cancer Society in its efforts to fight the disease.

Players from both teams completed the two mile walk and were able to interact with individuals, families, and friends who shared stories about how they have been affected by cancer. One story in particular that struck the players was a young man who had lost his mother a few years ago. Prior to her passing, he and his mother had always been involved with breast cancer walks. Today he continues to walk in her honor.

A week prior to participating in the walk, the field hockey team also hosted a Breast Cancer Awareness game against Becker. Players and coaches from both teams were adorned in pink, including "Play 4 the Cure" shirts, to help bring attention to an important cause.
