BURNS, KERR NAMED NECC HONORABLE MENTION

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College field hockey juniors Stacy Burns (Waltham, Mass.) and Kym Kerr (Uxbridge, Mass.) have been named to the New England Collegiate Conference's All-NECC Honorable Mention Team, it was announced by the league offices on Monday morning.

For the second-straight year, Kerr was named to the NECC Honorable Mention Team. The junior finished second on the team in defensive saves with two and was one of the Pride's top defenders in 2012. Kerr helped backstop a Regis defense that allowed only 10 goals in six conference games this year.

Last year's NECC Tournament MVP Stacy Burns was selected to her first All-NECC Team. Burns scored a goal and added a pair of assists for four points this year while also helping out on the defensive end of the field. The junior took 32 shots on the year, 19 of which were on goal.

Several other awards were handed out to round out the end of the year. Anna Maria's Marybeth McClune (Worcester, Mass.) was named the NECC Player of the Year, while her teammate Kylie Dalbec (Portland, Maine) was named the league's top rookie in 2012, and the AMCATS head coach Sharon Zenevitch was named the Coach of the Year. Elms senior Alexandra Bonavita (Agawam, Mass.) was selected as the NECC Goalkeeper of the Year and Daniel Webster earned the NECC Team Sportsmanship Award.
