PRIDE DROP 2-1 BATTLE WITH AMCATS

PAXTON, Mass. – Despite drawing first blood, the Regis College field hockey team fell to league-leading Anna Maria in New England Collegiate Conference action on Saturday morning. The loss drops the Pride to 3-11 overall and 2-2 in NECC play, while the Amcats move to 10-7 on the year, including a 4-0 conference record.

The Pride got on the board at the 21:31 mark off a goal from junior Christine O'Toole (Boston, Mass.). Junior midfielder Stacy Burns (Waltham, Mass.) delivered a pass to O'Toole, who was able to find the back of the net to put the Pride up by a goal. It was O'Toole's fifth goal of the season.

The Amcats were able to tie the game in the 28th minute of the first half, after sophomore forward Nicole Lowe (Saugus, Mass.) capitalized on a pass from freshman midfielder Kylie Dalbec (Portland, Maine).

Lowe and Dalbec would connect again for the go-ahead goal in the fourth minute of the second half, this time with Dalbec on the scoring end off a pass from Lowe.

Despite a solid effort, the Pride were unable to capitalize and get back in the game. Freshman Devan Wirtanen (Westminster, Mass.) led the Pride with five shot attempts in the contest, while classmate Raegan Heck (Phillipston, Mass.) finished with 11 saves on the day.

Regis will be back in action on Tuesday, October 23rd, as the team travels to Elms for a 7:00 p.m. conference matchup with the Blazers.
