RAMS BLANK PRIDE, 3-0

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – A pair of goals and an assist by junior forward Kaitlyn Ranieri (Bellingham, Mass.) proved to be too much for the Regis field hockey team, as the Framingham State University Rams blanked the Pride on Wednesday afternoon by a score of 3-0.

Framingham State begins the season at 1-0, while the Pride drop to 0-2 after falling in their opener on Saturday.

Reigning NECC Rookie of the Week Raegan Heck (Phillipston, Mass.) started in goal for the Pride, allowing two goals and making a single save, while junior Morgan Mitchell (Ashburnham, Mass.) came on relief and made five stops for Regis.

The Rams took the lead for good just over five minutes into the game on Ranieri's first marker. Junior Kelli Timmins (Dedham, Mass.) fed Ranieri in the circle and she placed a shot in the back of the net.

Framingham State extended their lead with ten minutes remaining in the half when Ranieri converted on one of the Ram's seven penalty corners of the game after she redirected a shot from sophomore Emma Littlefield (Rockport, Mass.).

The Rams added an insurance marker late in the second half when Ranieri fed the ball to junior Cassandra Koegel (Groveland, Mass.), who connected on her first of the season to reach the final margin of 3-0.

Sophomore Cheyenne Genga (South Windsor, Conn.) paced Regis with three shots in the contest, including two shots on goal.

The Pride return to action on Thursday when they travel to Lasell College for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference matchup.
