O'TOOLE'S TALLIES PUSH PRIDE PAST AMCATS

WESTON, Mass.-The Regis College women's field hockey team defeated Anna Maria College on the Pride's senior day by the score of 4-2. The Pride moves to 6-9 overall on the season, while the visiting Amcats move to 5-10 on the season.

The Pride got on the board early in the first period when sophomore Christine O' Toole (Wareham, Mass.) put a slow rolling shot past Amcats goalkeeper Marita Steinmetz (Grafton, Mass.) to put the Pride up 1-0. This lead would be nullified when the Amcats Brooke Denver (New Britain, Conn.) would finish off a broken save by Pride goalkeeper Genisez Guidel (Lawrence, Mass.) to tie the score at 1-1.
O' Toole would answer back three minutes later when she found an open seam and dribbled past two Amcats' defenders, to blast a shot bottom right and make the score 2-1 in favor of the Pride. The Amcats would not be fazed as they continued to play tough and get shots on goal. Denver would connect on a pass from Katherine Bant (Johnstown, N.Y.) to find the back of the net to make the score 2-2. Two minutes later, Bant was fouled and given a penalty shot opportunity to put the Amcats up by one before the half but shanked the shot wide left to keep the score at 2-2 entering halftime.
The Pride opened up the second half under the strong play of Cheyenne Genga (South Winsor, Conn.) who put away a quick pass from O'Toole to make the score 3-2 in favor of Regis. Genga would convert a second time off a pass from Meghan Robohm (Easton, Mass.) that was initiated on a penalty corner from Stacy Burns (Waltham, Mass.) to make the Final score 4-2.
The Crimson and Gold return to action Tuesday when they travel to Eastern Connecticut State to take on the Colonels at 4:00 p.m. The Amcats next matchup is against fellow NECC opponent Daniel Webster College.
