PRIDE FALL TO WILDCATS IN DOUBLE OVERTIME 4-3

WESTON, Mass.-The Wheelock College Wildcats' Taylor Rogers (Essex, Mass.) scored in the second overtime period to give the team the win 4-3. The Pride moves to 1-8 on the season, while the Wildcats improve to 2-8 overall on the season.

The Wildcats opened the game with a goal from Despina Savvoulides (Norwalk, Conn.) who was able to convert off a deflected save by Pride goalkeeper Genesiez Gudiel (Lawrence, Mass.) to make the score 1-1. The Wildcats would notch a second goal when Rachel Robohm (North Easton, Mass.) finished a off a deflected shot from Taylor Rogers to put Wheelock up 2-0.

The Pride would get on the board when freshman Cheyenne Genga (South Windsor, Conn.) would sink a low rolling shot past Wildcat goaltender Michelle Greene (Marshfield, Mass.) to cut the Wildcat lead to one and give the Pride momentum heading into halftime.
 
The Wildcats came out early in the second period when Rachel Robohm juked a Pride defender and cranked a hard shot making the score 3-1.
Christine O'Toole cut the Pride's goal deficit in half late in the second period when she connected on a pass from Meghan Robohm (North Easton, Mass.) to make the score 3-2. The Pride continued to play well and push the ball in the Wildcats' defensive zone. Regis was awarded a penalty corner with a little over a minute left in regulation, Stacy Burns (Waltham, Mass.) revered a quick pass from Meghan Robohm to tie the game at 3-3 and bring the game to overtime.
The first overtime period finished with a string of shots from both squads but neither team was able to convert with the score being 3-3 at the finish of the first overtime period. The Wildcats' would make a push in the second overtime period when Rogers would crank a shot from the lower part of the box to seal the game at 4-3.
 
The Crimson and Gold return to action Wednesday when they travel to Newport, Rhode Island to take on the Seahawks from Salve Regina at 7:00 p.m. The Wildcats return to action Wednesday when they head to Springfield, Massachusetts to play the Western New England College
