WALLS AND O'TOOLE TALLY GOALS IN PRIDE LOSS TO RAIDERS 4-2

NASHUA, N.H.-The Regis College field hockey team was defeated by Rivier College Tuesday night at the Rivier College Athletic Field by the score of  4-2. The Pride moves to 1-7 overall on the season, while the Raiders move to 3-7 on the season.

The scoring got started in the first half as Rivier jumped out to a 1-0 lead within the first five minutes. Junior captain Kristen Tyler (Thornton, N.H.) grabbed a loose ball inside the circle after a corner and rifled a shot low corner to put the Raiders up 1-0.

Rivier would extend the lead to 2-0 at the 16 minute mark. Sophomore Kayla O'Reilly (Marshfield, Mass.) found herself in the right place as she collected a rebound and put into the back of the net.

Trailing by two at half, Regis College started the second half on fire. After a corner was awarded to Regis, it was the Pride's Christine O'Toole (Wareham, Mass.) who found the net to put the Pride down by one.

The Raiders however would not quit. Their hard work paid off at the 54 minute mark. Junior tri-captain Lindsay Rettenmeier (Ashford, Conn.) ripped a shot that went over the Regis keeper's head and was batted down by a Pride defender. A penalty shot was given to Rivier and freshman Presleigh Skelley (Wolfeboro, N.H.) recorded her first collegiate goal with a shot that went top self right side.

Just two minutes later, Tyler would add her second goal when she took a corner pass from fellow junior tri-captain Meghan Ruocco (East Kingston, N.H.) and bring it up to the top of the circle and fired a laser shot into the net.

The Pride would add a late goal by freshman Sashae Walls (Everett, Mass.)to make the score 4-2, but it was not enough as the Raiders held on for the win.

Freshman Makenzie Flagg (Shirley, Mass.) allowed just two goals on seven shots. The Pride's freshman goalkeeper Genesiz Gudiel (Lawrence, Mass.) stopped seven of the eleven shots on goal.

The Crimson and Gold return to action Sunday when they take on NECC opponent Wheelock College at 2:30 p.m. Rivier returns to action Saturday when the Raiders travel to Colby-Sawyer College.
