Weston, Mass.-Regis College Field Hockey participated in the Susan G. Komen "Play 4 the Cure" effort during the college's annual homecoming activities Oct. 17. As a part of the initiative the team wore pink socks, and sold bracelets with proceeds benefiting breast cancer research.

First-year head coach Lisa LeVierge implemented the effort as a part of breast cancer awareness month.

Supporters that wore pink to its homecoming game received a free raffle ticker to win gift certificates, Regis College apparel, and a Dita Field Hockey Stick.

The team is continuing to sale bracelets for $2, and all proceeds and donations will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Sophomore Victoria Pappas (Niantic, Conn.) is a field hockey player, and initiated "LiveStrong Day" on campus Oct. 2. As a part of her efforts athletics purchased yellow jerseys and LiveStrong bracelets for all of its fall sports teams.

Sophomore soccer keeper Andrew LaMacchia (Lynn, Mass.) wore a pink jersey during a game to support cancer research efforts, and raise awareness for the disease. Several other teams have either hosted events, taken part in, or will be hosting awareness events for various causes.
