THREE SCORE TWO EACH IN GORDON OVER REGIS VICTORY

Weston, Mass.­-Three different Gordon College (4-12, 3-4 TCCC) players scored in the Scots 8-0 defeat of The Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Regis College Thursday. Clara Baker (Underhill, V.T.), Brianne Gilbert (Windsor, Conn.), and Veronica Pierce (West Hartford, Conn.) all had two goals each.

Pierce also tallied an assist in the match. Melinda Fowler (Winslow, Maine) and Alison Vigneau (Stowe, V.T.) had a goal each.

Fowler contributed two assists, a team high. Samantha Neverett (Athol, Mass.) led with a game-high 10 shots, nine being on Regis keeper Sara Ankerud (Groton, Mass.).

Ankerud was credited with 14 saves for the Pride. Regis had 10 shots on goal. Maria Mendes (Brockton, Mass.) tallied a team high four shots, three on goal.

The Pride believed they had a goal midway through the second half, but an infraction took the score off of the books.

As a team, Gordon had just five shots that were wide to either direction. The Scots marked 28 shots, 23 on goal, and contributed seven assists in its eight goals.

Pierce was the only Gordon player to score unassisted on a breakaway goal.

Regis College will head to Endicott Oct. 24 to conclude its 2009 season. Gordon will play host to Nichols College, a conference opponent, on the same day at 1:00 pm.
