PURE GOLDEN BEARS, PRIDE NOT WELCOMED AT HOME, FALL 7-0

Weston, Mass.-Katy Vogl (Cazenovia, N.Y.) opened with Western New England's first score, setting off a scoring frenzy that would ruin Regis College's (0-10, 0-6 TCCC) chances of picking up its first win of the season during its homecoming.

Assisted by Kaela Jalbert (Turner, Maine), Vogl was one of seven different New England (4-11, 3-4 TCCC) scorers Saturday. With less than 20 minutes having expired in the game, Vogl began a scoring frenzy by the Golden Bears.

Amy Hedberg (Guilford, Conn.) tallied the team's second score in the 25 minute, with less than eight-minutes having expired on the clock. Hedberg would also assist Lauren Arsenault (Fitchburg, Mass.) three minutes into the second half.

Tara Breskawski (Babylon, N.Y.), Erin Griffin (Lowell, Mass.), Rebecca Squires (Merrimack, N.H.), and Caitlin Foster (Hyde Park, N.Y.) were the four other Golden Bear scorers.

As a team, Western New England had a total of 18 shots, with 18 being on goal. Credit Regis College keeper Sara Ankerud (Groton, Mass.) with 11 saves, but her efforts fell short of keeping the Golden Bears from taking the game.

Regis College managed just one shot and one shot on goal for the match.

The Pride hopes to rebound when it faces Simmons College Oct. 20. Western New England beat Simmons 3-2 in overtime Oct. 10. The Golden Bears will head to Castleton State Oct. 18.
