SIX SALVE PLAYERS SCORE IN 7-0 ROMP OF REGIS COLLEGE

NEWPORT, R.I. - Six different Seahawks scored goals as Salve Regina University field hockey routed Regis College, 7-0, in The Commonwealth Coast Conference action today in Newport.

"Today's win was a total team effort," said Seahawk head coach Jennifer Eldridge. "After a week of OT games it was nice for our girls to get their first conference win of the season."

Salve Regina (6-4; 1-2 TCCC) has won three in a row including a pair of overtime victories during the week. Leading-scorer freshman forward Kelly Burke [Georgetown, Mass.] scored twice in the first half, first on a loose ball in front with an assist to junior midfielder Lindsay Burt [Hopedale, Mass.]. Burke later tallied with an assist from fellow freshman Kelly Monson [Attleboro, Mass.].

In the second half, junior forward Brittany Lopes [Lexington, Mass.], senior co-captain and midfielder Andrea Michel [Yarmouth, Maine], and junior midfielder Ali Campagna [West Hartford, Conn] each scored their third goals of the season. Campagna assisted on Lopes' goal while freshman forward Kelly Allan [East Killingly, Conn.] assisted on the latter two.

Freshman forward Kathryn Pellegrini [Newton, Mass.] scored her first collegiate goal in the 59th minute with an assist from sophomore forward Nikki Schlegel [Kennebunkport, Maine]. Schlegel contributed her first collegiate goal in the 67th minute.

Regis remains winless on the season, but freshman goalkeeper Sara Ankerud [Groton, Mass.] stopped a total of 26 shots. Seahawks Devin Eppley [Darien, Conn.] and Natalie Balletta [Leominster, Mass.] split the time between the pipes for the team's third shutout of the season.

Salve Regina completes a September schedule with eight home game, winning all six on the Lawrence Avenue field. The Seahawks are on the road next Saturday at New England College (1 p.m.).
