ATHLETICS TO HONOR SENIORS AND 1,000-POINT RECIPIENTS

Weston, Mass.—On Saturday, Feb. 20 in the Regis College Athletic Arena the athletics department will recognize its senior basketball players, and officially etch the names of the 2008-09 women’s basketball 1,000-point club members into the record books.

Former women’s basketball players Kim Mariotti (Springfield, Mass.) and Laura Sears (Billerica, Mass.) will be officially named to the Regis College 1,000-point club. Mariotti, a four-year player, scored 1,173 points during her time at Regis. She broke the 1,000-point mark on December 6, 2009 against Lasell College.

Sears, a three-year member of the women’s team, scored her 1,000th point against Anna Maria College. She would finish with 1,005 points. Both Mariotti and Sears were members of the TCCC playoff teams during the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons.

Athletics will also recognize senior Jessica Page (Quincy, Mass.) for her four outstanding years at Regis College. Page has helped to lead the Pride to its third consecutive TCCC postseason appearance on Tuesday, Feb. 23.

Page is also a member of the 1,000-point club, hitting her milestone over winter break of the 2008-09 season in the Bahamas. She is on pace to become the all-time leading scorer in women’s basketball history.

Also during the festivities, athletics will honor its second and third male graduates from the men’s basketball teams. Mike Barile was the first to graduate in 2009.

Jesse Vega (Pawtucket, R.I.) and James Cooper (Philadelphia, Pa.) will mark their last home game of their college careers Saturday.

The ceremonies will be held in between the doubleheader match-ups. Women’s basketball will tip-off at 1:00 pm, the men will start following the ceremony.
