Austin and Thuotte Recognized in GNAC Weekly Awards

WINTHROP, Mass. - The Regis College athletics department picked up two weekly awards from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference as the weekly reports were released by the league office on Monday.

In the first weekly report for Men's Indoor Track and Field, junior, Justin Thuotte (Lebanon, Conn.) was named GNAC Field Athlete of the Week. Thuotte cleared the high jump at 1.80 meters to claim eighth place, just before making a mark in the triple jump at 12.77 meters for fourth place while finishing the long jump at 6.47 meters for a fifth place finish this past weekend at the Branwen Smith-King Invitational.

For the third time this season, junior Liam Austin (Boston, Mass.) has been named GNAC Diver of the Week after completing the one-meter diving section at Simmons University this past Friday with a score of 188.35, before a quick turnaround for Saturday's home meet to collect 364.45 points in the one-meter diving section with 11 dives.

Indoor Track and Field will return to action this weekend with its meet at Wesleyan Indoor Invitational, Saturday, Jan. 25, starting at 10:00 a.m. Regis' Swimming and Diving is preparing for its place in the GNAC Swimming and Diving Championships taking place on Feb. 5-7 at WPI.
