WINTHROP, Mass. - Following the 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Cross Country Championships, the league office announced the major award recipients as well as the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Teams Thursday, Nov. 7, with senior Abby Kilbride (Peabody, Mass.) and sophomore Kederson Pierre (Everett, Mass.) representing the Pride on those teams.
A three-year letterwinner on the Regis College track and field team, Kilbride joined the cross country program this year and quickly made an impact, finishing third among Pride runners and 25th overall at the season-opening Colby-Sawyer Charger Invitational with a five-kilometer time of 23:37.17. She continually improved throughout the season, completing the six-kilometer course at Norwich University in less than 30 minutes Saturday to finish 46th overall at the GNAC Championships in 29:14.3, over 50 seconds faster than her previous best six-kilometer time.
Pierre was selected to the GNAC Men's Cross Country All-Sportsmanship Team for the second straight year as he showed consistency during the 2024 season, starting with a 29th place finish at the Colby-Sawyer Charger Invitational in 21:14.28, a five-kilometer personal best time. His times in the five eight-kilometer races this season fluctuated by just over two minutes, including a top time of 33:54.01 at the Bruce Kirsh Cup Oct. 11 and a time of 33:59.6 at Saturday's GNAC Championships to finish in 53rd place overall.
"Abby Kilbride and Kederson Pierre have been stewards of sportsmanship for the team over the course of this season," Regis head cross country coach Ben Biello said. "Whether it be encouraging and supporting our team, helping other teams out when they're in need, or setting the right example for how to treat others on and off the course, Abby and Ked are two great people to represent Regis Cross Country on the All-Sportsmanship Team!"
Kilbride and Pierre join Aubrey Heise (Mattapoisett, Mass.) and Riley Stogsdill (San Diego, Calif.) in collecting GNAC honors. Stogsdill earned First Team All-GNAC recognition for his fourth place finish at the GNAC Championships with an eight-kilometer time of 27:37.2, as did Heise after finishing fifth in the women's six-kilometer race last Saturday with a time of 25:16.7.
The Regis cross country team concludes the 2024 season at the NCAA Division III East Regional Meet Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, N.H.
