
Werner named GNAC Men's Swimmer of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass. - Junior Cody Werner (Bettendorf, Iowa), a team captain of the Regis College swimming and diving team, has been selected Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Male Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season after his performance Friday, as the league office announced the weekly awards Monday, Nov. 4.
Werner picked up multiple victories to help the Pride, finishing first in three different events against Plymouth State on Friday. Werner completed the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.26, followed by the 50 butterfly in 25.69 seconds, and the 100 individual medley in 1:01.33, out-touching his closest competitor by 14/100ths of a second.
The 2024 GNAC champion in the 50 butterfly, Werner was previously named GNAC Swimmer of the Week Oct. 21, 2024, and Jan. 8, 2024, as well as both GNAC Athlete of the Week and Rookie of the Week Jan. 10, 2023. Werner is in the Regis all-time top-20 times list in 12 different events, including second place in the 200 butterfly (1:57.21) and third place in the 400 individual medley (4:26.26).
The Regis College swimming and diving team hosts Saint Joseph's College for a meet on Friday, Nov. 8, starting at 6 p.m.
