Regis Swim & Dive Competitive Against Babson

BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Regis College swimming and diving team was competitive in its annual meet against Babson College, but the Beavers defeated the Pride in both men's (238-39) and women's (205-63) dual meet competition Saturday at the Morse Pool.

Ryan Kim (Los Angeles, Calif.) picked up Regis' lone event victory, winning the men's 100 breaststroke by a half-second with a time of 1:04.03. He also finished third in the 50 breaststroke in 29.93 seconds, just 7/100ths of a second behind second place, and swam the second leg of the 200 medley relay, joining Aryaman Nagaraj (Watertown, Mass.), Cody Werner (Bettendorf, Iowa), and Casey Whittaker (Topsham, Maine) for an overall time of 1:50.10.

Nagaraj finished second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.10 seconds, plus he led off the 200 freestyle relay with a 50 free split of 24.26 seconds, teaming with Samuel Madriz (Union, N.J.), Whittaker, and Werner for an overall time of 1:37.59. Liam Austin (Boston, Mass.) placed third in both three meter diving with a personal-best total of 152.30 and one meter diving at 156.00.

On the women's side, Abby Parker (Peru, Mass.) posted the Pride's best individual finish by touching the wall second in the 50 breaststroke in 37.15 seconds, followed by Davinity Smallwood (Naugatuck, Conn.) in third place in 38.45 seconds. Parker also finished third in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:20.98.

The quartet of Megan Miller (Quincy, Mass.), Olivia Luhnau (Castle Rock, Colo.), Ava Hubster (Crown Point, Ind.), and Riley Aptt (Woburn, Mass.) started the meet by finishing second in the 200 medley relay with an overall time of 2:08.38. Aptt, Hubster, Miller, and Luhnau also finished second in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:57.13.

Luhnau finished third in the 200 freestyle in 2:12.68, while Miller finished third in the 100 backstroke by just 4/10ths of a second at 1:08.43 as well as in the 50 backstroke in 32.20 seconds. Aptt finished third in the 50 butterfly in 30.80 seconds and in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:39.17.

Amy Martinez (Marlborough, Mass.) placed third in the 50 freestyle with a time of 36.74 seconds, and Jenna Silva (New Bedford, Mass.) finished third in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:17.97.

Regis College hosts Eastern Connecticut State next Saturday, Oct. 21, starting at 11 a.m. at the Regis Pool.
