Field Hockey, Women’s Soccer Share 2023 “Regis Power” Award

WESTON, Mass. - As a result of their hard work in the weight room during their non-traditional season, the Regis College field hockey and women's soccer teams share the second annual "Regis Power" Award, established by Renato Capobianco, Regis College Athletics Strength and Conditioning Director.

Informing the teams of the honor Wednesday morning, April 19, Capobianco told them that their extraordinary effort over the past couple of months will pay dividends for them next fall. He talked to the student-athletes about establishing a culture based on hard work, perseverance, and teamwork in the weight room.

With several members of both squads participating in spring sports, the field hockey and women's soccer coaches agreed to combine their teams' weight room sessions into one timeframe. The vast majority of their sessions took place in the morning before the student-athletes went to class or fulfilled other academic obligations such as clinical work.

The field hockey team will look to improve upon a 2022 campaign in which it won three matches, all conference victories. The women's soccer team posted a 10-6-2 overall record last fall, including a 9-3-1 mark within GNAC play, but the squad is aiming to advance further in the GNAC Tournament than the quarterfinals.

Regis College sponsors 20 intercollegiate sports, including field hockey and women's soccer, within NCAA Division III as a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).
