Regis Fall Sport All-Stars Honored November 29

WESTON, Mass. - At halftime of the Regis College men's basketball game against Lesley University Tuesday, Nov. 29, the top performers in athletic competition, academics, and sportsmanship from the just-completed fall sports season were honored in front of a large crowd at Higgins Court.

The fall season for the Regis Pride was highlighted by two teams posting runner-up finishes in their respective sports. The women's tennis team advanced to the championship match of the GNAC Tournament for the second straight year, and the women's cross country team placed second at the GNAC Championships, its highest finish at the conference meet since joining the league in 2017.

First-year player Kiana Thompson (Boynton Beach, Fla.) led the Pride tennis team with perfect records in both singles (8-0) and doubles (9-0), receiving GNAC Player of the Year and GNAC Rookie of the Year honors after the fall season. Katelyn Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) collected First Team All-GNAC honors in singles for the third time in her career, and Samantha Gevry (Dudley, Mass.) was selected First Team All-GNAC in doubles along with Thompson as well as Second Team All-GNAC in singles for the second straight year.

Four members of the Regis women's cross country team finished in the top 10 at the GNAC Championships, led by Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) in third place and Erin Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) in fourth place. In her first year of collegiate competition, Madelyn Klein (Framingham, Mass.) received GNAC Rookie of the Year honors after finishing seventh, and Libby Parker (Bow, N.H.) finished 10th for Second Team All-GNAC recognition. Ashleigh Kelley went on to earn USTFCCCA All-Region honors for the second straight year after crossing the finish line in 21st place at the NCAA Division III East Region Championships.

Benjamin Happenny (Woonsocket, R.I.) received First Team All-GNAC honors for the second straight year to lead the Regis men's cross country team to a fourth place finish at the GNAC Championships. Happenny led the Pride in all seven events he competed in during the season, extending his streak to 14 straight meets in which he was Regis' top finisher.

Two other Regis squads qualified for their respective GNAC Tournaments, with both earning the fifth seed in the postseason. The women's soccer team won nine conference matches, the most league victories in a single season in program history, and the women's volleyball team reached the 20-win mark for the second straight year as well as posted a 9-4 record in league play.

Tia Zanardi (Haverhill, Mass.) was voted United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Women's All-Region 1 Second Team and First Team All-GNAC as she led the Pride defense to eight shutouts in 2022. Payton Bridge (Norton, Mass.) received Second Team All-GNAC accolades, Hailey Lovell (Wakefield, Mass.) and Aria Ulmer (Henniker, N.H.) earned Third Team All-GNAC recognition, and Cassidy Van Cott (Santa Monica, Calif.) was voted to the GNAC All-Rookie Team.

Representing the women's volleyball team, Rita Dow (Nashua, N.H.) received Second Team All-GNAC and NEWVA Honorable Mention All-Senior honors, while Kamdyn Tenorio (Irvine, Calif.) picked up Third Team All-GNAC and Honorable Mention All-NEWVA recognition. Ahnasia Mckinney (Chelmsford, Mass.) also collected an Honorable Mention All-NEWVA award, and Ayla Albers (San Diego, Calif.) was voted to the GNAC All-Rookie Team.

Between men's soccer, women's soccer, and women's volleyball, 14 Pride student-athletes received College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® recognition: Bridge, Nick Cardenas (Hudson, N.H.), Elisa D'Sa (Bellmore, N.Y.), Dow, Brevin Frankel (Millbury, Mass.), Alexa Katsoulis (Oxford, Mass.), Lovell, Kate Montigny (Shrewsbury, Mass.), Toni Ondris (Mineola, N.Y.), Santiago Pedraza Novak (Bogota, Colombia), Javin Stickney (Gorham, Maine), Maria Toumbouras (Walpole, Mass.), Ulmer, and Zanardi.

Cardenas, Ondris, Parker, and Ulmer were also selected to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Teams in their respective sports, as were Nora Connor (Peabody, Mass.), Ava Costello (North Easton, Mass.), and Ben O'Neal (New Britain, Conn.).

Regis College sponsors 20 intercollegiate sports within NCAA Division III as part of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
