Seven Members of Pride Named to GNAC All-Sportsmanship Teams

WINTHROP, Mass. - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) announced the postseason awards for the fall sports over the past couple of weeks, and seven Regis College student-athletes were selected to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Teams in their respective sports.

Nick Cardenas (Hudson, N.H.) represents the men's soccer program after serving as one of the team captains during the 2022 season. Cardenas appeared in 11 matches, including 10 starts, and picked up an assist on the game-winning goal in the 51st minute during the Pride's 2-1 victory at Dean Sept. 21. He played all 90 minutes in six matches this season as he was a mainstay in the Regis lineup in each of the last two seasons, starting all 17 matches in 2021.

Nora Connor (Peabody, Mass.) started seeing success for the women's tennis team with the Salem State match Sept. 15, winning in both singles and doubles for her first career victories. She teamed with Harmony Lopez for a 6-2 doubles record, plus she posted a 6-4 record in singles, featuring a five-match winning streak. Playing mostly in the sixth singles position, Connor earned a straight-set victory at number five singles against University of Saint Joseph.

Ava Costello (North Easton, Mass.) made an immediate impact for the Pride field hockey team, appearing in all 16 matches and starting the final 15 contests of the season. She earned her first career point with an assist during the 4-2 victory over Albertus Magnus Sept. 10, with her first career goal coming against Dean Sept. 24. Costello finished the season with three goals and two assists for eight total points, featuring her game-tying goal early in the fourth quarter during the Pride's 2-1 victory over Elms.

Toni Ondris (Mineola, N.Y.), one of this year's captains for the women's volleyball team, appeared in 25 matches during the season and earned 81 digs, including a career-high 13 digs in the final regular season match against Anna Maria Oct. 29 as well as nine digs against Colby-Sawyer Oct. 11. Ondris is one of the social media representatives on the Regis Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and receives All-Sportsmanship recognition for the second consecutive year.

Ben O'Neal (New Britain, Conn.) has competed in the last three events for the Regis men's cross country team, starting at the Keene State College Invitational Oct. 1 where he posted a season-best eight-kilometer time of 37:17.9. He also participated in the Suffolk Invitational Oct. 15 and the GNAC Championships Oct. 29, where he ended up in 58th place to help the team to a fourth place finish.

Libby Parker (Bow, N.H.) continually improved throughout the 2022 cross country season, culminating with Second Team All-GNAC honors after a 10th place finish at the GNAC Championships with a collegiate-best six-kilometer time of 27:42.7. She also posted a collegiate-best five-kilometer time of 21:59.3 at the Keene State Invitational. Parker joins Ondris as a two-time GNAC All-Sportsmanship honoree.

Aria Ulmer (Henniker, N.H.) received Third Team All-GNAC honors as well as selection to the GNAC Women's Soccer All-Sportsmanship Team. Ulmer finished with four goals and one assist for nine total points as she appeared in 16 matches, including 15 starts. She opened the scoring with penalty kick goals at Norwich Sept. 16 and against Rivier Sept. 28, plus she assisted on the game-winning goal against Anna Maria Sept. 21.
