WESTON, Mass. – The inability to physically gather at the Fine Arts Center did not prevent the Regis College athletic department from presenting the 39th Annual Athletics Awards Ceremony, as the recipients of several honors were announced during a video premiering Friday, April 24.

Mary Costantino (Abington, Mass.) and Brian Wagner (Melrose, Mass.) received the Regis-Casserly Award, the highest award presented to a graduating male and female student-athlete by the athletic department. Costantino became the third consecutive multi-sport female student-athlete in field hockey and lacrosse to earn the honor, while Wagner joined 2013 recipient Stephan Bottex in representing the men's lacrosse program.

Costantino appeared in 48 career field hockey matches and 34 career lacrosse contests, working her way into the starting lineup in both sports. This year, she served as the Senior Class President as well as Vice-President of the Regis Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Majoring in history and secondary education, she currently holds a 3.664 GPA as she nears graduation. An Academic All-GNAC honoree, Costantino will head to New York City next fall to begin a year as a Seton Teaching Fellow.

In 44 career lacrosse matches played, Wagner collected 33 goals and 57 assists for 90 total points, currently sitting fourth on the Regis all-time assists list and ninth on the career points list. He was an orientation leader as well as a peer tutor, plus, along with Costantino, he participated in the service trip to South Dakota, volunteering at the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation on behalf of Simply Smiles. Also an Academic All-GNAC honoree, Wagner is currently carrying a 3.254 GPA as he is on track to graduate with a bachelor's degree in business management.

Scott Holcomb (Natick, Mass.) and Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) received the Senior Scholar-Athlete Awards, recognizing both a male and female senior student-athlete who has committed him or herself academically as well as athletically. To be considered for this award, a student-athlete must have played at least three years on their varsity team and has the highest cumulative grade point average.

Holcomb was a four-year letter winner for the soccer program, appearing in 65 matches, including 35 starts, as a defender. As a junior, he started 13 matches for the Pride, helping Regis post five shutouts. Holcomb received GNAC All-Sportsmanship and All-Academic honors as well as the team's Most Improved Player award. This past season, he was one of the team captains as he started all 17 matches, including road shutouts at Dean and Anna Maria. Holcomb completed his bachelor's degree in business management in December, finishing with a 3.813 grade point average.

A four-year member of the tennis team, McCormack won 39 career singles matches, sixth in program history, and 38 career doubles contests, tied for fourth all-time. As a freshman, she was voted NECC Rookie of the Year as well as First Team All-NECC in both singles and doubles. This past season, she won eight singles matches and eight doubles sets as she was selected Second Team All-GNAC in both singles and doubles. A two-time Academic All-GNAC honoree, Ariana has served as Regis SGA President this year. She has maintained a GPA of 3.966 as she closes in on her bachelor's degree in communications and criminal justice.

For the second consecutive year, the women's soccer team collected the Judith W. Burling Team Award for Academic Excellence, presented to the varsity team with the highest weighted team cumulative grade point average. Combining for a 3.56 GPA, the squad featured 19 student-athletes acknowledged for academic excellence during Division III Week, almost 80 percent of the eligible players (sophomore, juniors, and seniors) on the roster.

Nicholas Gendreau, the assistant sports information director for the past two years, received the Faculty/Staff Appreciation Award from the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Gendreau served as gameday statistician at numerous Regis athletic events, plus he oversaw the graphic design and video streaming operations for the sports information office. He also accompanied the softball team on its Spring Break trip to Florida in each of the past two seasons, keeping stats and taking photographs.

Pam Roecker, Regis College Dean of Athletics, opened the presentation along with associate athletic director Mark Clemente, assistant athletic directors Ron LeClair and Laura Violette, and sports information director Jason Behenna. Special thanks goes to the award presenters: Regis College President Dr. Antoinette Hays, Senior Vice President/COO Dr. Kara Kolomitz, faculty athletic representative Dr. Liz Conant, and 2019-20 SAAC President Bridget Dowling.
