Cross Country Concludes 2023 Season at NCAA East Regional

HOPKINTON, N.H. – The Regis College cross country team ended the 2023 competition season by participating in the 2023 NCAA Division III Cross Country East Regional Meet, hosted by Suffolk University at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds.

In her final collegiate cross country meet, Libby Parker (Bow, N.H.) led the Regis women, finishing 140th overall with a six-kilometer time of 26:47.96, a personal-best time for six kilometers by close to one full minute. Jonnie Charest (Methuen, Mass.) also cut almost a full minute off her personal best time as she ended up in 160th place with a time of 27:43.56.

Another personal-best time was posted by Elizabeth Stevenson (Scituate, Mass.) as she crossed the finish line in 168th place with a time of 28:34.30, 13 seconds quicker than her previous top time. Annabelle Jean-Philippe (Randolph, Mass.) was close behind in 170th place with a time of 28:40.53.

Katie Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) also wrapped up her collegiate cross country career by completing the six-kilometer course in 28:58.02, almost one-and-a-half minutes faster than her previous personal-best mark established just last week. Caterina Koch (Milford, Mass.) finished in 190th place with a time of 30:07.11, over one minute quicker than her time over the same distance at the 2023 GNAC Championships.

As a team, the Pride finished in 27th place overall with 789 points, ahead of conference foes Simmons, Saint Joseph's College, and Dean. MIT placed five runners in the top 10 to cruise to the team title with 27 points, while Grace Hadley of WPI earned medalist honors by completing the course in 20:48.86, over one minute ahead of her nearest challenger.

Benjamin Happenny (Woonsocket, R.I.) competed in the men's eight-kilometer event and finished in 140th place with a time of 28:54.79. MIT enjoyed a 1-2-3 finish, led by medalist Sam Acquaviva in 24:36.21, on its way to the team regional title.

The Regis College cross country team will now start preparing for the indoor track and field season, with the first competition scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Suffolk Relays in Boston.
