Ashleigh Kelley Collects Third GNAC Runner of Week Award of 2021

WINTHROP, Mass. – Finishing first at the Elms College Blazer Cross Country Classic Saturday, senior Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the third time this season, announced Monday afternoon by the league office.

Kelley finished 29.3 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor with a time of 23:44.2 over the six-kilometer course. She posted a time over one minute faster than her previous six-kilometer collegiate best time as well as one of the top six-kilometer times in program history.

The senior captain previously received GNAC Runner of the Week honors Sept. 7 after finishing seventh at the Wellesley College Invitational and Sept. 13 after crossing the finish line in fifth place at the Smith College Invitational. This is Kelley's fourth career GNAC weekly cross country award, as she received Rookie of the Week honors Sept. 4, 2018.

Regis College heads to Hopkinton, N.H., Saturday, Oct. 2, for the Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup, hosted by Franklin Pierce University at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds. The men's eight-kilometer race is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by the women's five-kilometer event at 11:30 a.m.
