Ashleigh Kelley Named GNAC Runner of Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – After a top-10 performance at the season-opening Wellesley College Invitational, senior Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, announced Tuesday afternoon by the league office.

In the women's five-kilometer race, Kelley finished in seventh place with a time of 19:17.5, over 30 seconds quicker than the previous best time by a Pride runner at the meet established by Molly Curtin four years ago. It is also close to 40 seconds faster than Kelley's previous best 5K collegiate time posted at the 2019 UMass Dartmouth Invitational.

Kelley has been a fixture for the Regis cross country team since she arrived on campus in the fall of 2018, earning GNAC Rookie of the Week honors Sept. 4, 2018. She received Second Team All-GNAC recognition after finishing 13th at the 2018 GNAC Championships, followed by a 16th place finish in the 2019 conference meet.

The Regis College cross country team heads to Northampton, Mass., for the Smith College Invitational this Saturday, Sept. 11. The women's race is scheduled to start at 10 a.m., followed by the men's competition at 11 a.m.
