Regis Record Falls at UMass Dartmouth Invite

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Regis College men's and women's cross country teams competed on Saturday in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, seeing a school record fall in the process.

Maggie Mann (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) broke the school record in the 5k with a time of 19:08.3, averaging a time of 6:09.6 per mile. Mann finished in 19th out of 263 runners in the race. The previous record was 19:09 set by Molly Curtin at UMass Dartmouth during the 2017 season.

Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) finished in the top 50 with a time of 19:57.9, setting a new personal best, and Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.) followed her with a time of 20:37.1, placing 87th.

Erin Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) set a new personal best, completing the course in 21:43.8 beating her old time by five seconds. Desiree Jones (Oceanside, Calif.) also set a new personal record by 1:10.2, finishing the course with a time of 23:22.7.

The women's team finished 18th out of 37 teams that competed, compiling 480 points. Holy Cross finished in first with 82 points; Mount Holyoke was the first NCAA Division III team to place with 92 points.

JJ Pedersen (Milford, Conn.) led the men's team in the 36-team field with a new personal best of 27:42.3 while finishing in 77th. Gustavo Novelle-Ruddy (Boston, Mass.) averaged 5:58.2 per mile while finishing the five-mile course in 29:50.8.

AJ Corso (Broad Brook, Conn.) paced the Pride freshmen, finishing in 30:18.9. Christian Hendricks (Edgewater, Md.) finished the race with a time of 31:13.4 before Noah Ryan (Stockton, Calif.) crossed the finish line in 32:28.0.

The men's team collected 798 points, finishing 29th out of the 36 teams. WPI finished in first place on the men's side with 61 points.

The men's and women's cross country teams will compete again at the Keene State Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 5, beginning at 11 a.m.
