WENHAM, Mass. – With two runners finishing in the top 15, the Regis College women's cross country team finished in eighth place at the Pop Crowell Invitational, hosted by Gordon College Saturday morning.

For the second straight week, Maggie Mann (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) was Regis's top finisher, completing the six-kilometer course in 24:11.3, good enough for fifth place. Averaging 6:29 per mile, Mann cut 10 seconds off her previous best 6K time established at last year's NCAA Regional.

Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.) also stayed close to the top runners, ending up in 14th place with a time of 24:48.9. Completing her first collegiate six-kilometer event, freshman Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) finished in 26th place with a mark of 25:28.8, just four seconds outside the top 25.

Erin Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) also ran a six-kilometer race for the first time in her collegiate career, posting a time of 27:35.1 to finish in 71st place. Joelle Bockus (Windham, Maine) completed the race in 29:34.4 for 101st place.

As a team, Regis compiled 169 points to finish in eighth place among the 15th-team field. With its five scoring runners within the top 10, including race winner Emily Wasina with a time of 23:36.1, the University of New England easily won the team title, far in front of second place Eastern Connecticut State.

After a week off, Regis will head to Standish, Maine, to compete in the Runnin' Monks Invitational, hosted by Saint Joseph's College Saturday, Oct. 6. The race will be held on the same course that will host the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships Saturday, Oct. 27.
