Know Your Pride: Q&A With Maddie Boucias

Know Your Pride: Q&A With Maddie Boucias

In the fourth installment of "Know Your Pride", Regis Athletics sits down with Regis cross country and track student-athlete Maddie Boucias for a good old fashioned Q & A session. Boucias is from Buckland, Mass. and is a secondary education and history major at Regis.

What made you choose to come to Regis?
I came because I liked the size and that it is very inclusive. A big thing is that I wanted to be far away from home but not too far away. I live out in the western part of (Massachusetts) the state and I thought eastern mass was a good place to go. Also, the 5-year master's degree program Regis has. I came out here three times and I really liked the campus and the tours I took.

What has been your most memorable experience here?
That's a really hard question but I'm going to go with winning the cross country NECC championship last year.

When coach gives you the day off, what are you most likely doing?
It's rare that I do absolutely nothing so I'm probably running and getting some cardio work in.

What do you most enjoy about playing both of your sports?
I see track as an extension of cross country but I really like cross country because it's one type of event and it feels like a real team environment. But what I like about both sports is that you need to give 100% every time out. In other team sports, you don't always have to have your best effort as an individual but in track and cross country you do.

If you could have dinner with one person, dead, alive or fictional, who would it be?
John F. Kennedy

What's your go-to karaoke song?
Eye of the Tiger by Survivor

Best advice you received and from whom?
My old high school coach said work hard and the success will come to you.

Last picture you took on your phone?
I had a silly group photo taken of the four of us (teammates) after a meet this year.

If you could have a special power, what would it be?
I would love to fly.

If you could live in a TV show or movie which would you choose?
Harry Potter.

If you had a million dollars what would you do with it?
Give a lot of the money to my parents and charity programs aiding Syrian refugees. I would also just try and spend it wisely throughout my life and pay off college loans.

If you weren't running cross country or track, what sport would you play?
I'm stuck between swimming and tennis.
