Strong Showing for Cross Country at Saints Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. - Both the Regis (Mass.) men's and women's cross country teams impressed on Friday afternoon with strong showings at the Emmanuel College Saints Invitational at Franklin Park in Boston.

The women finished in sixth place out of 22 teams competing on the afternoon, beating every Great Northeast Athletic Conference team competing aside from the hosts from Emmanuel. Senior Molly Curtin (Brockton, Mass.) led the Pride, placing fourth out of a field of 208 runners, with a time of 19:40. Sophomore Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.) was the second Pride finisher, placing 20th with a time of 20:42. Rounding out the Pride's top three was sophomore Maggie Mann (Buzzards Bay, Mass.), who placed 37th with a time of 21:16. Megan Bubello (Framingham, Mass.) and Jill Mosko (Woburn, Mass.) rounded out the top five, running times of 22:29 and 23:11.

On the men's side it was the same story, as only the Saints were able to beat the Pride among GNAC competitors, as Regis finished in ninth place out of 23 teams. Freshman JJ Pedersen (Milford, Conn.) led the Pride, placing 32nd out of a field 200 runners with a time of 28:37. Shane Romanchick (Trumbull, Conn.) was close behind Pedersen in 40th, running a time of 28:46. Sophomore Jovan Sematimba (Burlington, Mass.) placed 47th with a time of 28:56 to round out the Pride's top three runners.

The race concludes the regular season for the Pride, who will next hit the trails on Oct. 28 at the GNAC Championships hosted by Johnson & Wales in Bristol, R.I.
