Pride Cross Country Teams Compete At UMass Dartmouth Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Regis (Mass.) men's and women's cross country teams hit the trails for the second time this season, competing in the UMass Dartmouth Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.

It was a notable performance by both Pride teams who placed ahead of the three other Great Northeast Athletic Conference teams who competed in the event. In addition to Regis, the three other GNAC entries were the University of Saint Joseph (CT), Johnson & Wales (RI) and Suffolk. 

Molly Curtin (Brockton, Mass.) had another stellar showing for the women's team who placed 16th out of the 40 teams competing. Curtin placed 18th out of a field of 299 runners, finishing with a personal best time of 19:10. Maggie Mann (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) placed 44th overall with a time of 19:37 with Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.) close behind at 19:46, and 53rd overall.

Megan Bubello (Framingham, Mass.) finished 197th with a time of 22:19 and Jill Mosko (Woburn, Mass.) rounded out the Regis top 5, finishing 200 (22:24).

JJ Pedersen (Milford, Conn.) led the men's team in his 8k debut, finishing 126th with a time of 28:26. Shane Romanchick (Trumbull, Conn.) finished close behind in 131st, with a time of 28:34. Jovan Sematimba (Burlington, Mass.) was the third Pride finisher at 155th overall (29:05).

Kyle Gillen-Hughes (Reading, Mass.) finished 166th overall with a time of 29:21, and freshmen Sean Toomey (Salem, N.H.) finished right behind in 172nd with a time of 29:25. Freshmen Matt Sowden (Scituate, R.I.) and Cutler Conquest (Westminster, S.C.) rounded out the top 8 with times of 32:06 and 32:19, respectively.

Both Pride squads get back it next Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Codfish Bowl. Start time is set for 11:00 a.m.
