Women's Cross Country Tabbed Second in NECC Preseason Poll

NECC Release

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) women’s cross country team was selected to finish second in the NECC Preseason Coaches Poll.

With 65 points, the Pride came in just behind first place Lesley (68) and just ahead of defending champion Wheelock (62). Regis picked up one first place vote in the poll.

Taking over the team for her first season as head coach, Kourtney Bonsey will look to build on a third place finish in last season’s NECC Championship meet. Senior Siobhan McLaughlin (Derry, N.H.), who finished in eighth in the NECC meet last season, and freshman Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.), a former high school standout, highlight a strong 2016 roster for the Pride.

Rounding out the poll were Southern Vermont (57), Elms (44), Mitchell (36), Newbury (32), Bay Path (28) and Daniel Webster (13).

The Pride start the season on Saturday, Sept. 3 at the Roger Williams Invitational in Bristol, R.I. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
