Cross Country Competes in James Earley Invitatonal

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Junior Molly Curtin (Brockton, Mass.) and freshman Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.) continued their historic 2016 season on Saturday afternoon at the James Earley Invitational, leading the Pride women's cross country team to a 20th place finish out of 41 teams. On the men's side, Shane Romanchick (Trumbull, Conn.) led the Pride on its way to a 32nd place finish.

Curtin finished in 25th place out of 459 runners with a time of 23:20.75 in the 5k race, while Boucias (23:52.88) finished in 48th. Senior Siobhan McLaughlin (Derry, N.H.) was the third Pride finisher, coming in 96th place with a time of 24:38.46, followed by Sarah Backholm (Sutton, Mass.) who finished in 240th with a time of 26:24.66. Freshman Jill Mosko (Woburn, Mass.) rounded out the Pride's top five finishers, coming in 253rd with a time of 26:37.48.

On the men's side, Romanchick's 180th place finish of 28:53.44 in the 8k race topped all Regis finishers. The sophomore was followed closely by freshman Jovan Sematimba (Burlington, Mass.), who completed the course in a time of 29:06.44 to finish in 197th. Sophomore Kyle Gillen-Hughes(Reading, Mass.) was the third Pride finisher with a time of 29:27.92, followed by Nicholas Sahagian (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) with a time of 30:02.83 andSam Mildrum (Hingham, Mass.), who rounded out the top five Regis finishers with a 32:38.23.

Next up for the men's and women's cross country teams, they will compete in the Emmanuel Saints Invitational on Friday afternoon at Franklin Park in Boston. The women's race will kick off at 4:00 p.m., followed by the men at 4:45 p.m.
