CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS PLACE THIRD AT NECC CHAMPIONSHIPS

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Regis College men's and women's cross country programs both took home third place finishes as the New England Collegiate Conference Championships on Saturday in Westfield, Mass.

On the women's side, former NECC Rookie of Year, Siobhan McLaughlin (Derry, N.H.), led the Pride by placing second overall (20:35.94), less than 10 seconds behind first place. Rookie Sarah Backholm (Sutton, Mass.) finished eighth overall with a time of 21:57.65. Mikayla Mooney (Guilford, Conn.) placed 12th, just missing out on an All-Conference nod, with a time of 22:43, while Alexa Lucas (Melrose, Mass.) came in 27th place (24:03).

Other strong finishes for the Pride included senior S.K. (Waltham, Mass.), Racheal Wood (Manchester, N.H.), and Diana Tran (Somerville, Mass.), who all helped lead the Pride to their third place showing.

McLaughlin was named to the All-NECC First Team, while Sarah Backholm earned a Second Team nod.

On the men's side, freshman standout Sam Mildrum (Hingham, Mass.) led the Pride, placing seventh overall (28:36.64) and earning Second Team All-Conference honors. Matt Norton (Weymouth, Mass.) finished 11th, with a time of 29:55. Jeremy Israel (Randolph, Mass.) took a minute off of his previous best time, running a time of 31:46 and placing 19th overall.

Sophomore Sean LaPrise (Medford, Mass.) also dropped his previous personal best time significantly, running a time of 32:33 and placing 24th overall. Freshman Colin Churchill (Springfield, Vt.) ran a solid race, placing 5th for the team to help the Pride to their 3rd place finish.

The Pride will compete again in two weeks at NCAA Regionals in Williamstown, Mass.
