MCLAUGHLIN LEADS PRIDE AT UMD INVITE

DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The Regis men's and women's cross country teams competed against over thirty teams at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, September 20th.

On the women's side, sophomore Siobhan McLaughlin (Derry, N.H.) led the Pride, finishing the course in a time of 20:33. Former NECC Rookie of the Week, Molly Curtin (Brockton, Mass.) followed close behind, finishing the race in 21:23. Freshman Sarah Backholm (Sutton, Mass.) finished 3rd for the Pride, running a time of 22:27. Alexa Lucas (Melrose, Mass.) and Rachel Wood (Manchester, N.H.) both had solid finishes over the 5k course.

On the men's side, freshman standout Matt Mona (Barkhasted, Conn.), shattered the previous Regis school record for the 8k by over a minute, posting up a final time of 27:24. Fellow freshman Sam Mildrum (Hingham, Mass.) was close behind, running a time of 28:24 over the five mile course. Men's team captain, Matt Norton (Weymouth, Mass) finished third for the Pride, running a time of 29:54. Senior Owen McQuaid (Marlboro, Mass.) and sophomore Sean LaPrise (Medford, Mass.) finished the day with major personal bests. McQuaid completed the course in 30:42 while LaPrise dropped five minutes off his previous personal best, running a time of 33:59. Jeremy Israel (Randolph, Mass.) finished 5th for the team with a time of 33:21.
