MONA, MCLAUGHLIN SHINE AT TRINITY INVITATIONAL

MANCHESTER, Conn. – On a hot, muggy morning, Regis College competed in the Trinity XC Invitational at Wickham Park in Manchester, Conn. Wickham Park is known for its hills and uneven terrain.

Even though there were many challenges, freshman stand out Matt Mona (Barkhasted, Conn.) led the Pride coming in 17th out of 84 runners with a time of 18:18. Freshman, Sam Mildrum (Hingham, Mass.) had a strong performance coming in the top 50 at 19:47, while Matt Norton (Weymouth, Mass.), Owen McQuaid (Marlboro, Mass.), and surprise newcomer Adam Thatcher (Coventry, R.I.) were close behind. The overall effort led to a team finish of 7th Place.

On the women's side, Siobhan McLaughlin (Derry, N.H.), continued her dominance by placing 22nd out of 70 runners with a time of 19:12. Close behind were newcomers, Molly Curtin (Brockton, Mass.) placing 30th with a time of 20:00 and Mikayla Mooney (Guilford, Conn.), who came in 35th with a time of 20:20. Both Curtin and Mooney were running their first collegiate race. The Regis women placed sixth overall.

Both cross country teams return to action on September 20, when they travel to UMass Dartmouth for the UMass Dartmouth Invite starting at 10:00 a.m.
