NORTON & MCLAUGHLIN CAPTURE NECC WEEKLY HONORS

WESTON, Mass. – A pair of Regis College cross country freshmen have been named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookies of the Week, as announced by the league's offices on Monday morning. Matt Norton (Weymouth, Mass.) of the men's team picks up his fifth Rookie of the Week honor this season, while Siobhan McLaughlin (Derry, N.H.) of the women's team earns her sixth Rookie of the Week honor of the year.

On Friday, Norton ran the 8k course at the Saints Invitational in a time of 29:59, which was good enough for a 58th place individual finish out of 169 total runners.

Also competing at the Saints Invitational, McLaughlin ran the 5k course in 20:16, which was good enough for a 6th place individual finish out of 154 total runners. She recorded the fastest time among NECC runners and helped the Pride capture a tenth place team finish.

Norton, McLaughlin, and the Regis College cross country teams next compete at the NECC Championships at Stanley Park on Saturday. Race time is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
