MCLAUGHLIN BREAKS SCHOOL RECORD

WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Regis Men's and Women's cross country team competed in the James Earley Invitational at Westfield State on Saturday, October 12th. The women placed 28th out of 37 teams, while the men finished 29th out of 34 teams.

Freshman standout Siobhan McLaughlin (Derry, N.H.) placed 23rd out of 361 runners. She dropped 50 seconds off her previous time, finishing the race in 19:56 and setting a new school record. Sarah Schow (Southborough, Maine), the team captain, finished in 22:56, which is over 30 seconds faster than her previous time. S.K. (Waltham, Mass.) placed third for the Pride, running a time of 24:35. After a short hiatus from competing due to an injury, Krysten Sheppard (Medford, Mass.) came back strong, completing the course in 25:50, a time that is over a minute faster than her previous personal best. Kylie Homem (Peabody, Mass.), a freshman, finished with an impressive time of 27:01.

The men's team had strong finishes as well. Jonathan Paul (Medford, Mass.) completed the five mile course in 29:10, a minute and faster than his time at the Blazer Invitational two weeks before and also the school record. Matt Norton (Weymouth, Mass.), a freshman, placed second for the Regis team with a time of 29:38, almost 30 seconds faster than his previous time. Owen McQuaid (Marlboro, Mass.), Jeremy Israel (Randolph, Mass.), and Raymond Grasso (Orange, Mass.) had strong finishes as well, helping the Pride earn a 29th place finish out of 34 teams.
