PRIDE COMPETE IN FIRST VARSITY MEET AT FENS CLASSIC

BOSTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's and women's cross country teams competed in the programs' first varsity meets on Saturday afternoon at the 5th Annual Fens Classic, which was hosted by Emmanuel College and held at Boston's Backbay Fens area. The Pride men competed in a 5k event, while the women competed a two mile course and ultimately came away with a sixth place team finish.

The men were led by sophomore Jonathan Paul's (Medford, Mass.) time of 19:24, which was good for a top 50 place finish. Juniors Owen McQuaid (Marlboro, Mass.) and Jeremy Israel (Randolph, Mass.) were not far behind, as they came in at 19:57 and 20:40, respectively.

Freshman Siobhan McLaughlin (Derry, N.H.) led the way for the women's team, as her time of 13:11 was good enough for a ninth place individual finish. Junior Rachel Wong (Wakefield, Mass.) also had a strong showing for Regis with a time of 13:54, which placed her among the top 25 finishers.

Other Pride runners included senior Sarah Schow (Southborough, Mass.), who ran the course in 14:47, juniors S.K. (Waltham, Mass.) (16:06) and Krysten Sheppard (Medford, Mass.)   (17:01), as well as freshman Kylie Homen (Peabody, Mass.), who had an 18:55 race time.

Both cross country teams will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 13 at the Daniel Webster Invite, which will take place at Mine Falls Park. The women are set to begin at 4:00 p.m., while the men are scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start time.
