WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College women's cross country team has been projected to finish seventh in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) this season, according to the preseason coaches poll released by the league's offices on Wednesday afternoon.
The five-time defending NECC Champions Lesley University were unanimously selected by the conference's coaches to finish first. The Lynx picked up 64 points, including all eight first-place votes.
Mitchell, with two straight runner-up finishes, placed second in the poll with 54 points, followed by Elms (47), Southern Vermont (33), and Newbury (29) to round out the top five spots.
Regis picked up 21 points and finished just behind Bay Path for seventh place, while Daniel Webster was selected eighth. The Pride will be competing in the program's first varsity season this fall and will open up the year with the Fens Classic at Emmanuel College on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 10:00 a.m.
