WORCESTER, Mass. – Regis College continued its strong play, defeating Worcester State, 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-22), Tuesday night in a non-conference women's collegiate volleyball match at Lancer Gymnasium.

Kate Montigny (Shrewsbury, Mass.) led the Pride offensively with 11 kills and a .500 hitting percentage, with Rita Dow (Nashua, N.H.) also hitting .500 as she finished with eight kills and three total blocks. Ahnasia Mckinney (Chelmsford, Mass.) split time between setting and hitting as she collected 18 assists, eight kills, and seven digs. Defensively, Mica van der Meulen (Colorado Springs, Colo.) paced the backline with 17 digs, with Kamdyn Tenorio (Irvine, Calif.) contributing 12 digs to go along with eight kills and three service aces.

Regis raced out to a 9-4 lead in the opening set, capped by a kill and a block assist by Dow. After the Lancers scored three straight points later in the set, the Pride responded with seven unanswered points to close out the first set, including two service aces from Tenorio.

Worcester State (9-14) took the early lead in the second set, scoring seven of the first eight points thanks in part to two kills by Natalie Gillis. Regis put together a 9-3 scoring run to pull into an 11-11 tie, and the momentum would swing back-and-forth through the middle of the set. The Pride took the lead for good with consecutive kills by Tenorio, Dow, and Mckinney, and then they would clinch the second set on another kill from Tenorio.

In the third set, after a Tenorio service ace put the Pride on top, 5-4, the Lancers scored four straight points, led by Maeve Cadogan with two total blocks. Down 10-7 after a kill by Leelle Tyler, Regis rattled off a 13-3 scoring run to open a 20-13 advantage. Worcester State responded with a 9-3 scoring stretch to close to within one, but Regis finally closed out the set and the match on a kill by Montigny and a block by Dow.

Gillis notched a double-double, leading the Lancers with 10 kills and 10 digs, while Cadogan led her team defensively at the net with five total blocks.

Regis College (19-7) hosts Maine-Fort Kent Thursday, Oct. 28, starting at 4 p.m. at Higgins Court. Before the match, the Pride will honor the seniors on the squad in a Senior Day presentation.
