PRIDE DROP PAIR OF MATCHES AT JWU FALL CLASSIC

Providence, R.I. – The Regis College women's volleyball team competed in the first day of the 2013 Johnson & Wales University Fall Classic at the Wildcat Center on Friday evening. The Pride fell to both Emerson College and Coast Guard by 3-0 scores to slip to 7-15 on the season.

Regis fell to Emerson (25-12, 25-16, 25-18) in their opening match of the tournament. Freshman Kristina del Rey (Miami, Fla.) led the Pride with eight kills, while senior Sara Gold (North Hollywood, Calif.) chipped in with 18 digs.

Emerson's Julianna Augustine (Skaneateles, N.Y.) had ten kills in the match and Juliana Tucker (Encino, Calif.) recorded six digs and 31 assists.

The second match of the day saw the Crimson & Gold get bested by Coast Guard (25-14, 25-19, 25-16). Outside hitter Sam Bliss (Framingham, Mass.) came up big for the Pride with nine kills, six digs, and a service ace. Junior setter Marilia Ramos (Chimbote, Peru) also had 18 assists and five digs for the Pride.

The Bear's Maggie Hine (Richmond, Va.) and Kelsey Hickle (Plano, Texas) combined for 14 kills, and Hine added 31 assists.

Regis will wrap up the tournament tomorrow at 10 a.m. when they take on Plymouth State.
